morag_windstar over a long lunch and spent spent some time at shenya's.
Between visits I stopped into the Four Season store in Tower Junction to investigate getting a new fire, to be told "Four Seasons" couldn't help me without dimensions for the space etc etc. They didn't really seem interested in making a sale. But I did get the number of their preferred installer, along with the advice that if it wasn't an EQC job no one would be interested in doing it for the foreseeable future. (Which is fine, I just want to get some sort of firm plan in place before EQC decide they're ready to rebuild the chimney.)
I did get to see the model of fire I've been looking at online in the iron. It's much smaller than it appears in the brochures, where all the images are scaled to about the same. In fact it's about the smallest, cutest, dinkiest little wood burner you can get :D But still rated for 160 sqm (with wetback). So I might be able to go for something a bit bigger, but I might settle on this one anyway.
* many things - finish last bit of work for the week, invoice, laundry, clean bathroom/toilet, call mother.
