In search of a pick-me-up I have designated a couple-of hundred dollars from a recent invoice* as retail-therapy money. Unfortunately there is really nothing I can think of to spend it on that would give me even a short term kick.

- well, there might be but the option doesn't seem to be available. I've come as close as I seem to be able twice in the past week anyway.

Just donating it to either of the current causes wouldn't be any improvement on what I've already given. I would like to spend it at a local battered business, but AFAIK Comics hasn't been able to rescue/restock on gaming stuff yet and no-one else leaps to mind.

Something like a new scanner wouldn't get enough short-term use to be worth it, and is too much like work than recreation. Someone suggested getting some custom t-shirts printed, but I'm already planning to buy a t-shirt next week, and anyway what would I put on them?

I'm thinking about a new jacket - I do need to replace my current, and it's a discretionary expense, but the idea still feels a bit too "meh". Too much effort unless I just want to walk into Hallensteins/Farmers and pick up a new clone of this one, and it's probably time for a change.

* recent good news no.1* - an invoice which seemed way high for the amount of work I'd done over the period. On closer inspection this was because I was actually able to bill for almost all of it for the first time in ages. My calibration is off.

* recent good money news no.2 is that my mortgage interest rate drops a whole half-% at the end of the month. The letter came today. It actually makes very little difference to the forecast, but it's nice-to-have, especially if I have to start ramping said mortgage up to get some repairs done.
