On my desktop CRT, the pics from the Games look incredibly dark. I spent quite a bit of time today lightening them, then took a look on the tablet's LCD to discover that the originals look fine as is.

It's the audience that counts, so I've uploaded the first 50 (49) originals to garner some feedback.

They look rather dark on my laptop LCD, to the point where detail is lost. I suspect they'll look a lot darker to anybody with a CRT monitor so it probably wouldn't hurt to brighten them up a wee bit.

They're pretty dark on my monitor, so I vote for brightening them.

They're a little bit dark, they aren't too bad on my screen though.

Way dark. What did you do to your camera settings?

Curious how well you'll be able to lighten them up; your photos don't seem to cope with much brightening.

Nothing. And the party photos are fine.

My best guess is I should have dialed the shutter speed back to allow for the overcast lighting conditions.

Picasa has a function which seemed to do a good job on them. However, since I don't entirely trust my monitors I think I'll be doing some experimentation and putting up a series of the same photo/s for comment.

They're dark enough that it should have been trying to fire the flash, which you tend to notice. Or have you forced it off?

Hmm, and given your comment, have you set it to a fixed shutter speed?

Yes (popped down), and yes.

Some of them are dark and some of them are ok.

As I flicked through them I did begin to adjust to the darkness, but I do think they should be lightened as some of the details (ie: people's faces) are quite hard to make out.

You have, as always, some *nice* shots in there. Well done!

Will we be seeing you for the pj party next month?

Seems pretty unanimous. And thanks :) Wait 'til you get the party ones...

There's a PJ party? Haven't seen notice. Probably not, invoicing for this month doesn't look flash so I probably won't be able to afford a trip.

Are you up here for the Peversion party?
