Great web design job for me [edit: removed non-functioning link]

Except for this little bit:
"Should you reach interview stage, you will need to demonstrate the ability to quickly sketch out, on paper, a design and its major points."

There's reason I follow the "you draw it, I'll code it" philosophy. Actually, "quickly" is the hardest part of that (also understandable by the client). I can mockup a design given an hour or two.

If I ever wind up running my own web design company it will have to be in partnership with someone who can do the graphic design thing.

I love the designing part... I think I'm pretty average at graphics, but not bad at the usability thing. It would depend on what kind of website they wanted though. The trick would be to design a few sites before the interview and have them in your head when you went in.

I guess the seek thing has expired...I can't read the actual job description.

Wow, there is a job in Auckland for an Html/css developer that pays $50k. That is awesome.

Looks like I'd need to learn javascript for most of them though. I haven't used javascript since I was 16 or so. I find it messy and annoying. Relying on a browser to process code is a bit silly, and javascript is by no means universal. :-/

There's a lot you can do with javascript. However cunning use of css has replaced a lot of what I used to use it for (mouseovers and the like).

It's still there, I guess it just doesn't like being linked to :(

Rereading it now I see they are in fact looking for a graphic designer with coding experience rather than the other way around, which puts me out of the running altogether :( I get the impression they would give you a client brief at the interview and see what you made of it.

I enjoy the design aspects, but I'm much better at making things functional than I am at making them pretty.
