So the tech came by this morning. They've checked and apparently my cable modem randomnly stopped responding for about 15 hours on Sunday (5am-7pm when it came back online*). It's fine now. There were no other issues in the neighbourhood. He ran some tests, determined that the line quality is one of the best he's seen, shrugged and said call us again if there is any more trouble.


*This tells me that the modem talks out even when it's powered down to standby, which I had suspected. I may have to consider disconnecting it when not in use.
