Last night was a bit messed up. Trigger warnings on the first for umm, relationship violence, violence against women and emotional fuckwittery.
Take Superman - one of the more powerful versions (me in the dream). Have an insubstantial dimension-manipulating entity whom he can't affect with any of his powers shut him away on a planet in a pocket dimension for an indefinite period of time with a few others, one (woman) of whom he forms a close friendship with. At some point in the future have the entity open up the pocket dimension to colony or refugee ships from earth, one of which contains Supes (my) unrequited love/ also good friend (ignore the timeline issues). Have the two women fall for each other and get married, making out and teasing Supes about his affection for both of them. Haves Supes sanity, stretched by the years imprisoned, snap and have him lash out at the newer friend, killing her. As he has a moment of regained sanity have the entity reappear, removing the dimensional barrier entirely and telling Supes that it was some sort of a test, which he failed, before disappearing to some completely unfindable other dimension entirely. Have Supes go completely insane, boost his powers even further by tapping into one of the emotional energy sources like the Lantern Corps control, and end the dream as he is about to start lashing out in blind rage and potentially start destroying the galaxy one planet at a time.
I can't remember much about the intervening dream - it was about catching someone in a poor situation stealing toilet paper or nappies by the carload from a department store attached to #AHChch and calling the police on them.
I returned to work from a trip away somewhere to discover (3) new programmers being trialled, at a rate of one a day apparently unaware of the others existence. A range of skill levels from some experience to significant solo/business experience. I'm not clear if we supposedly had enough work to take on another staff member or if someone (other than me) was being replaced. on the friday of the week I came into work to find two of them there and something seemed wrong - on asking the managers about it the broke down and admitted that business was really bad and the company was probably going to crash and burn. there was some dream-logic that explained why taking on someone new was going to help prevent this, but it wasn't working.
So I stepped into damage control mode and took some actions related to this information.
That dream ended and I was awake for a while thinking about the two dreams. then I drifted off into a follow up to the second dream where either
- the previous dream had been a hallucination - except for the actions I took which of course they were having to undo - and I was going crazy and not able to distinguish "episodes" from reality (and my have been becoming paranoid). I needed to take an indefinite leave of absence and go see my counsellor (who for some reason was now based out of Dunedin) to try and get my head straight / change medications
- the previous dream had been more-or-less accurate and the best thing to do was have me leave the company, or be it on good terms.
The dream kept flipping between these two contexts.
Eventually I got out of the office with all my stuff and was left trying to make my phone (an old phone) work to text my father for help getting to Dunedin because for some reason the office was in Ashburton and somehow I'd gotten there without my car.
I blame indulging in gluteny sweet things on Thursday night.
Feeling: empty inside like the sound of the last few drops of drink being sucked out of a can through a straw.
