Everything is so taking longer than it should this weekend...
As previously mentioned the arrival of BoD this year left me feeling distinctly unmotivated. I think
niennahirilfea hit a nail on the head when she made a comment about lack of preceeding hype & promotion. However I put in a few appearances to catch up with people like
salahdra :) Did play a board game on the Saturday - Runebound, vague Talismanly. Kill critters, get gear & stats, try and beat up the Boss monster. Despite getting royally screwed by the cards a couple of times I made a credible effort at surviving the endgame.
On Sunday I opted for regular games. We took on some young dragons in
shenya's game, which inflicted some serious hurt as two of them tied up the party in melee and one made strafing runs of the combat with it's breath weapon. Arthur may have spent more time down than up.
In Guido's Treasure the party arived in Darokin City with a shipment of grain and proceeded to deal with various people attempting to acquire it (and the contraband within) by dubious means. A good roleplaying and investigation session mostly, I think one combat roll was made. The cleric may be stretching his luck by impersonating the messenger of another power though....
Tonight they may get to grips with some of the factions behind the scenes.
anarchangel has started a thread for the discussion of BoD here (I know, late to the party. I'll chip in when my head is less fuzzy. One of my hot-button topics, donchaknow :D).
Spent much of work-time Mon-Thurs beating my head against stretching columnular layouts in CSS in combo with the customer-stylable sections of the CMS. OK, so you have a fixed-width layout but you want a variable width border between the columns. I can deal with that since we rebuild the .css file on update, until you come up with an add-in which means we can no-longer be fairly sure which will be the longer column!
One less background-colour-customisable area (requiring an extra container) and it would have been a breeze.
Tuesday evening we (barely) had critical mass for a resource-heavy game of Settlers of Cataan, followed by a M:tG game where my white decK defended itself respectably against the combined and co-ordinated efforts of the other two players, but eventually succumbed after a very drawn-out game.
Neverwinter also had a no-combat session, to the disappointment of at least one player. However I may have mitigated that to some extent by handing out phat lewt, although some of it may come with a catch :D
There was some good roleplaying and investigation, and next session should be a bit more balanced. One player has left but we have quickly picked up another - and the players are now evenly balanced genderwise.
morag_windstar - this is your reminder to send me your character background so I can make use of it next session!
Can be pretty much extrapolated by looking at the to-do lists I've been spamming at my journal. I have a heavy head cold which will not be cleared up in time for work tomorrow :( Still plan to run Guido's Treasure tonight - but prepared to call it early if I prove not up to the task.
Was just drifting off to sleep for my nap yesterday afternoon when the phone rang (guess who [sigh]). Failed to get back toward sleep after that but lay in the dark for a few hours before maing an appearance at
vizi's farewell party. The playlist looked good, darnit, but I was probably infecting people left and right without exerting myself and expressing my lungs on the dance floor. Had some entertaining conversation, took some photos, had my car (and the rest of the street) blocked in at one stage (thanks
thehollowmen for the tip off) but the offending vehicle was gone when I actualy left about 11:30.
