It looks like Canterbury Mayors may be as pissed off with ECan as some of their constituents

ECan was reeling yesterday from the revelation that the region's 10 mayors had complained to Local Government Minister Rodney Hide about the regional council's performance.

Timaru Mayor Janie Annear said "enough is enough".
"I believe that ECan's dysfunctionality is so complex and deep-rooted through the organisation that a change of leaders will just be cosmetic."
Gaining the support of all the mayors was "a historic step".
"This is not at a low, petty level," she said. "We are not talking about personalities or leadership or anything like that; we're dealing with a level of dysfunction within Canterbury. We have lost faith."
