2:15 am - Wham! Wham! on the front window next to my bed.

Car speeding off and domestic avian reproductive fluids slowly responding to gravity.

At least it is a nice warm night out to be hosing egg off the windows. The ... larrikins ... cruised back past while I was out there (no proof, but why else drive slowly with the interior light on rubbernecking at this time of night unless you expect to see something... )

So I'm pretty much expecting another pass in 10-20 minutes, after which I intend to be waiting with the camera when they come back to admire their handiwork. A second pass will get a call to the police as well.

Well they didn't come back, but I was unable to go back to (sort-of) sleep until after 5. I forsee an afternoon nap, since 'm awake now.

It's windier out than I'd like, but I'm going to see about getting some needed gardening done before the heat of the day hits.

So I intended to both move a small tree, which while a very nice tree has sprung up about a metre away from where I want a tree, and mow the lawns.

Then I discovered that the location I want a tree was home to a second holly stump (having removed one a while ago). Fortunately once I dug down a bit it turned out to be more of a mass of roots than a stump proper, but still.

I swear, next time I get people in to remove trees I'm insisting they remove them properly, not just subcontracting a stump grinder. Every tree I had removed at the same time the driveway was redone I've ended up (or expect to end up) digging out the rest of the stump myself.

As I'm nowhere near as physically fit as I used to be (possibly compounded by a lack of sleep) just digging up the stump and moving the tree took the stuffing out of me.

I give the tree about a 50% chance of surviving the move - that's my usual strike rate.
