Petrol prices dropped for the holiday weekend. By gritting my teeth and letting the tank run low I was able to save 2c/L filling up this morning. OK, that's probably less than a dollar all up, but it's the principle of the thinng and right now every cent counts.

Then of course I drove to Ashburton and back, but by filling up the tank immediately beforehad I can also read the trip efficiency straight off the tank running average. 4.6L/100km. Sweet.

I arrived in time for my Nana to insist on my staying for lunch. A cooked meal never goes amiss. Saves a little grocery money. Caught up on some of the family news.

Witnessed crazy overtaking on the way back. With all the passing lanes between here and Ashburton you wouldn't think anyone would feel the need to traffic hop.

The temperature is dropping, as forecasted. I think I will pre-emptively light my fire shortly. Hope it stays relatively fine for the BBQ I'm going to tonight.

The problem with passing lanes is the strange behaviour that occurs around them...

ppl go 80 kph holding up traffic all the way except the moment they reach a passing lane and suddenly feel the urge to go 120kph to avoid being passed ...
