[Alt title: He who has the power of death also has the power of life]
Had a very thematically focused set of dreams-within-a-dream last night, which was eventually revealed to be a vision quest at the end through which was revealed my inner self as a god or spirit of death (Eloin) and the subsequent new beginnings it brings. They were linked together by always fading back to the same supermarket carpark (or be it rather different each time) where I was trying to find my car and also some friends who had come with me. There was also what seemed to be some pre-orgy frottage happening which I rather wish had gone further ;)
When I did finally find my friends shortly before the dream ended it turned up they had set up the quest/visions at my request and with the aid of a slightly older goddess who happened to be the aunt of one of them.
Scenes I remember (trigger warning for child sexual abuse scene):
- in one of the segues the carpark has this huge stone roof which opened and closed vertically like a spiral. It was very impressive.
- there was a poem in one scene which I really wanted to remember - but it escapes me. It was part of a drawing/sketch - written in a speech bubble being emitted by a jester who was being held up/out/forward by The Joker (DC).
- playing a board game where you chose and placed a role card (ala Puerto Rico) into one of 3 sub-games/scenes on the board, which all had to be completed before the game ended. Mel was one of the other two players, can not remember who the 3rd was.
- pretty sure I was sucked down into one of those scenes when the role card representing me was placed in it.
- watching the last specimen of a cultivar of rose being torn out and thrown away, and then skipping through time as the tree that replaced it grew, matured, and started to die.
- [trigger warning] experiencing as an observer seeing through her eyes/emotions as a woman unlocked the repressed memory of being the victim of child abuse/rape by her father or possibly an uncle; in the presence of her two older siblings and mother who were already .. indoctrinated is probably the closest word. Then as a teenager firing a double-barrel shotgun repeatedly into his henhouse, injuring him but not "being able to" go in and finish him off, dropping the last two shells and running away from home and her past.[/trigger warning]
- choosing instead of just letting a construction worker fall to his death after he had been ordered into a dangerous situation by his supervisor (to excavate the top of a cliff? by hand after failing to use a remote-operate robotic shoveller carefully enough - something about getting flour stored nearby mixed in with the dirt?) instead having him drop the crowbar/stone chisel he was working on and having that break (snap clean in two) at the bottom of the fall instead.
- in an earlier scene "warming up" ;) a fire spirit to boost her power so that she could light a fire to cook food in the snow for someone I had just rescued from something.
- in a later scene - probably the last - having enough power in myself to re-ignite the sun which had suddenly just gone cold, with predictable effects on life.

Aside: something to think about for all those fantasy worlds where the sun is actually a flaming chariot driven across the sky each day by the sun god or something similar (or believed to be) - those who scheme in dark places might well plan to extinguish the chariot somehow.
