Looking back on 2013 as per usual I wrote more in my journal when sad and was too busy getting on with life when I wasn't, however FB did get updated regularly regardless of mood. FB is however rather more ephemeral, especially with the amount of links I push through, so it will be good to have some more things recorded here.

Overall 2013 was
- the year I started anti-depressants
- the year I stopped being self-employed
- a pretty good year even if it didn't feel like it so much in the throes of NYE party blues

Overall 2013 involved
- a lot of photos
- a lot of time / events at the Hall
- a lot of board gaming
- weekly ups and downs

~~~
January
- was still pretty blue
- an unexpected gift :)
- back to work
- had blood taken
- started taking anti-depressants
- moved my journal to Dreamwidth
February
- brother was in the country briefly
- usual beginning-of-Uni-year events
March
- car accident - kissed bumper corners at the Ilam/Riccarton/Middleton intersection
- the drugs were helping, but only a bit
- Star Wars campaign started (playing in)
- hall alarms were really messing with my sleep
- lost my temper in a way I had hoped to never again
April
- drugs appeared to be altering my risk/reward assessment
- smartphone was stolen in an encounter with burglars at the Hall
work moved offices
- sister gave birth to a healthy baby girl
- a friend in the UK died of cancer
- started buying shares, with Mighty River Power
- Drove a PriusC while my car was in the shop being fixed
May
- Prius came back, with issues, which were fixed at the panelbeaters expense
- the antidepressants seemed to have stopped working, or at least stopped having a noticeable effect, or I relapsed.
- pulled my first-ever all-nighter writing my game for BoD
June
- things were picking up again by the end of the month although I seemed to have a lot of demands on my time.
- trip to dunedin (the only one for the year :( )
July
- Kicked off (started) the "Weekend Gamers" group on FB which later had some success
- Started playing in a Dungeon World game which only ran a few sessions - but might have some life in it yet this year [hopes]
August
- upped the dose on my antidepressants
September
- ran a kickass Pacific Rim game at SanCon
- got very ill toward the end of the month
October
- Started playing in an awesome Arcana Unearthed campaign
- my muse turned back on to the idea of writing game supplement material (in addition to game logs)
- bought Meridian Energy shares
- body clock clicked back into place - although that seems to have been temporary
November
- life was looking up
- voted no in Asset Sales referendum
December
- plunged into the pit then kind of bounced back out.
- surprise postcard :)
- Gothic Vampire (anti)Xmas party was a success
- surprise loot from last day at work
- 10 year anniversary of buying Prius
- the start of a lot of social events in a short period of time
- surprise cake :)
Moneywise my accounts spreadsheet tells me
- despite taking a "pay cut" I earned about the same or slightly more before-tax this year, after-tax-and-student-load slightly less made it's way into my bank account. (As expected.)
- made my target for paying off the mortgage (monthly average). Also drew on the mortgage fairly heavily a couple of times to carry me over significant expenses
- grocery spend was significantly up, probably mostly due to buying GF bread etc
- Electricity spend dropped (warm winter)(also the power co. has us listed as a low-useage customer)
- Entertainment spend was up, but worth it
- House cost more than expected probably due to insurance jumping
- Roleplaying spend was down but that fluctuates wildly from year to year
- Computer spend was well up but that's probably because I now record smartphone mobile and data plan under that.
- Charity spend was up
- Gifts spend was up
- Medical was way up as expected with the additional Drs visits
- Tax was up but some of that has been double-paid and I expect a refund
- Misc totally blew out but that is because it is partially where I wound up recording some 000 dollars in share purchases
Looking at my employment situation, what went into Misc and my goals for this year, the mostly defunct "Other Business" and "Tax" categories have been replaced with "Subscriptions" and "Investments" respectively.
Goals for the coming year .. it's 2am in the morning. I'll write that post later.
