From what I understand, hire purchase with godawful interest is one of the big factors in keeping under-privileged families in a constant state of hardship.

If HRV think they're entitled to sucker people into paying 50% more for a heat pump, then NZ's personal debt statistics - third worst in the world? - aren't that surprising.
