Free off-street parking in city

Central city off-street parking will be free for the first two hours to help relieve earthquake affected retailers.

And people parking on-street will get an hour bonus on any amount they put into a meter.

The proposals received approval at today's city council meeting.

The tow hours free off-street parking will remain in place until January 30.

The hour bonus for on-street parking will remain in place even longer - until December 31, 2010.
