Volcanic glee
Apr. 18th, 2010 08:46 pmIs it wrong of me to feel darkly amused by the minor havoc Eyjafjallajokull is wreaking on our just-in-time society across the UK, Europe and the world? See how our civilisation has conquered the globe's tyranny of distance - flitting from one side of the world to the other in a few hours! [Boom!] Fuck!

In the silver lining, there must be massive interest in teleconferencing solutions right now and the airlines will be looking to establish more alternative routes they can fall back on to get people around the world without passing through Heathrow et al, that's going to be good for some areas.
I do feel sorry for the employees of some of those airlines though, this could result in a downsizing in the medium term. Even in the short term if smaller outfits go bust.
