Time banks
May. 11th, 2009 09:49 amLast week I was discussing with someone how useful it would be if you could physically loan your spare time (something I have a lot of at the moment) to someone busy so they had more hours in the day. It seemed though that there would be times of peak demand when everyone tried to call in their loans / acquire more time - for instance just before Canterbury Faire :D
On the radio yesterday something about a local 'Time Bank' starting up in NZ caught my attention and this morning I tracked it down online - in Whakatane. Most interesting was the note that there was already a local Time Bank in New Zealand - just across the hill in Lyttelton.
It's a slightly different principle and reading through the links it seems that there's a lot more goes in than comes out.
