This is a test...
Nov. 2nd, 2007 07:49 pmVideo from the Mad Science party, theoretically.
(Attempt 3)
Grab the original .mov (34Mb)
Attempt 1: Video came out pretty crappy after Youtube was done with it. Of course, I did uplaod a pre-prepared .flv.
Reset the dimensions in the embed code to bring it down to the native 320x 240 - helped a bit. (Ref: add 30px to heigh for player controls)
Attempt 2 invoves uploading the original .mov file and seeing what youtubes encoding makes of it. Still waiting on the conversion.
Of course, looking at the embed code I could put it up in my own hosting.
What I want is a video hosting service which allows videos to be semi-public - embedable but not automatically included in it's own content. Still looking.
Attempt 2 is the fail - Youtube failed to encode the video :-(
Attempt 3 - dropshots.com - big strike against them is their interface only works properly for me in IE. Also, no tagging. Video came out well though, interested to hear how it streams for people.
[Next morning]
Also the dropshots player appears to have autobuffering turned on - which is kinda bad for embedding in jounals especially if you might have people on dial-up reading :-/ . This video can stay there, but I will continue looking for an alternative.
