My Perdon campaign finished last night. It spanned 1 1/2 years game time, 4 1/2 years real time. In the final session the PCs met the (non-deceased) Emporer, some secrets were revealed, some rewards were given, some decisions about the future were made.

Aetha Wibbletoes, semi-exiled elven healer and follower of Jarl (a human Hero/Saint) founds an orphanage in Camarich sponsored by the Emporer and gives into a long-running campaign joke, acquiring an elven "stableboy" as a "lifetime sweetie". Aetha has been with the campaign the longest.

Carrie (Lady Caroline de Clere), runaway noblewoman and protege of both a prominent information dealer (revealed as Lord Onien Aborelin, bastard cousin to the Emporer and imperial spymaster) and more recently Magus Hast reconciles with her family, accepts a position at court, continues her magical studies and marries that cute army captain she spotted in the last session (but had arranged with the GM some time earlier).

Curaough (also known (incorrectly) as Sheena: Queen of the Jungle and Princess Curaough Sheena of the Plains), leonine Caitian on a post-adolescent journey of exploration accepts a position on a sea-bourne expedition to her home lands, which is to be sponsored in part by the Emporer. The expedition will not leave until spring and she faces the prospect of a winter "cooped up in a human city" with less than enthusiasm.

Magus Hast, power hungry and self-serving mage with a strained relationship to the Conclave accepts a postion as "Tactical Advisor" to the Emporer. From here he expects to be a true "power behind the throne" in short order - being already an old man a short order may be all he has time for.

This campaign has the dubious honour of being the first which I have bought to a satisfactory conclusion. Previous campaigns have ended due to player attrition, near-TPK, last-session anti-climax or plain old petering out.

It has been a significant learning experience and my GMing has improved markedly over that time (although there are still many imrovements to be made). I've also learnt a lot about scenario construction and worldbuilding.

When I started running Perdon much of the setting was little more than some geographical and cultural notes and a whole lot of blank canvas. Now it is a whole pile of notes and many ideas which need compiled and the wrinkles ironed out before I put out the call for players in Perdon II.

I have elected to use Livejournal as the medium in which to do this as it will give me easy, editable access to my notes whereever I have access to the internet. My workbook will be found at [livejournal.com profile] perdon if anyone is interested.

And so it begins...
