Date: 2009-08-16 04:01 am (UTC)From:Google groups and facebook notifications end up in the same place - email. The google group just cuts out the middle step and works as an email list.
Personally I'd rather get a message from google groups and be able to reply to the group(or the individual) than get an email from some random facebook group and have to go to facebook to post on a wall or whatever. Doesn't mean facebook isn't useful for some things, but it's not the best tool for group communications.
