On the balance I think the weekend is weighted positive. I managed to keep my mind distracted / focused on driving or other stuff for most of the weekend.

The trip down was uneventful, and we arrived at the Games location about 10 minutes early - before anyone else. This caused some concern as none of us had ever been to the location before. But people turned up and games happened successfully. I took photos.

After some timekiller and indoor BBQness turned up to the party venue, practically first there of course. Venue was good, smallish but this aided in gaining critical mass (about 9:30). Competitions happened, the slave auction dragged on a bit. One particular heckler could have drawn good money for the opportunity to gag them.

I sort of accidently bought a slave, but she proved surprisingly compliant and well suited to the niche activity for which I decided to utilise her. Still have an hour on the clock for next time we are in the same city, probably New Years.

Played taxi (yes, even when I'm in another city I wind up taking people home) and so was one of the last to leave, sometime after 2:30? Memory is a bit blurry. Got maybe 2 hours of sleep and some dozing before giving up and heading out for breakfast about 8.

Left Dunedin shortly after 10am, arrived home by 3:30pm. Called off Guido's due to lack of sleep and other stuff.

When I hate being right

On the way down (between Ashburton and Rangitata) I noticed a car parked off the road at an odd angle with someone slumped over the wheel. A little voice inside my head said "Something is wrong with that picture, you should go back and take a closer look. Another little voice rationalised "You've already gone past, you'd have to break through at least two stings of traffic to get back, it's probably someone just taking a nap before travelling one, and anyway it's someone else's problem, probably the police. If it's still there on the way back tomorrow we can take a closer look".

On the way back the car was gone but the location was well marked by the bouquets of flowers attached to the fence.

Should have fucking gone back!

I'm going to review the photos I took, have something to eat, a badly needed shower and crawl into bed with something to cuddle, for lack of someone.
