Delays delays delays
It has been a long day. Much of this has been due to roadworks and otherwise having to deal with the traffic at rush hour, but plugging away at work for 6+ hours also contributed.
Took the car into the panelbeaters first thing this morning - I haven't written about it here yet but I managed to jam up one of the door latches last week by backing up without double checking all doors were secured and having it swing out in to a hedge. Where it at first refused to closed it eventually decided it would and now not open. I took it into the service centre on Friday and they managed to get the inside panel off but that was all. Which means the door is probably going to have to be cut off and replaced. Insurance has provisionally accepted the claim, as long as it turns out there really is something jammed up in there. If not, it's going to be rather more expensive for me.
Anyway, had a loan car today so I headed for work. Took the motorway at a time that traffic should have eased - to find it crawling along at 10kph.
Spent pretty much the next 6 hours solidly coding (remembering my target is four hours a day, much more and I start breaking), even through lunch such as it was because I keep forgetting to get bread/substitute, some time refraining from cursing out the manager and a mate of his who were smack-talking and playing the office arcade machine (a recent acquisition which has significantly increased the amount of distraction in the office - and I don't even use the thing).
Got away from the office with precious little time to get back to the panelbeaters - in peak traffic - and discovered new roadworks on my route home with traffic backed up for blocks ... eventually managed to turn out and take another route but still only just made it in time. And that was without being able to stop home and check if any messages had been left on the machine. (As it turns out there hadn't been, nor had they called my mobile - but the guy did say he'd been trying to get hold of me so I will have to check what contact details they have for me.)
The panelbeaters don't have a long-term loan-car available for about four weeks, and the day-loan car they were able to give me today isn't available again until next Tuesday. The warrant is due at the beginning of next month so it needs to be fixed by then. I've booked the car in again for Wednesday (will take bicycle) because until they actually take the door off they can't actually be sure what parts they need.
