Well firstly this is not meant to be an in-depth analysis, just a quick and dirty comparison based on the most easily available data. If you wish to redo the analysis using more accurate figures go right ahead - I will happily link to it.

To address your points...

>you assume the cost of the home phone in the bunldes is always $40. this isn't usually the case

Where I could easily identify the cost of the (bundled) phoneline I used this number. Otherwise yes I assumed $40 which was about the middle of that range. I nearly didn't include Telecom in the analysis at all their website gave me so much trouble.

> You also ignore Orcon Genius - which is $70 for 30GB including a phone line (albeit a form of voip).

I deliberately didn't include Genius -because- all the other plans were including a copper line - even the TelstraClear Cable package I am on.

> Telstraclear, however, does do $75 for 40GB of broadband Including a copper phoneline - check their website.

Funnily enough I -started- at the TelstraClear website. You are talking about their basic Homeplan (http://www.telstraclear.co.nz/residential/homeplan/packages/broadband.cfm). If you take a close look at that page you will notice that the $75 basic Phone+Broadband connection includes no data whatsoever - usage packs must be purchased separately as per the second section of the page.

This is included in the spreadsheet and on the graph as "TC Homeplan"
