On page C8 of todays Press the EQC claims that "All claims for or involving chimney damage have now been assessed except for some where we have been unable so far to make contact with the claimant. If you have chimney damage and have not heard from us then please contact us on 0800 326 243 as soon as possible".

I haven't heard a peep from the assessors and I'm not exactly the hardest person in the world to contact (and EQC has contacted me by phone, email and post at various stages since Sept, so they have my details). I called them and the operator said I was the second this morning to do so about this.

If you are in the same position, please call them. And if there are a lot of people in this position, let's try and get this cock up of theirs exposed in the media so that no-one else gets overlooked.

The news report is erroneous. Brownley made a promise that EQC wasn't physicaly capable of keeping. Give EQC a call if you haven't been assessed yet for your chimney, they'll be able to give you a better idea of when you'll be seen...if no joy, call me on my cell between 8 and 6 mon-fri next week and I'll see what I can do.

It's not a news report, it's a half-page "update" advertisement taken out by (I assume) EQC. If it was a news report I would have dismissed it as wrong immediately.

That's why I'm kicking up a stink - either way they've cocked up and that dramatically reduces my faith in the process. I have been waiting patiently because I'm cognisant of the scale of the assessment task, but any indication my claim (and therefore others) might have slipped through the cracks puts an end to that patience.

We got our visit this past week too. Theoretically we are now on a priority list for getting the chimney fixed and logburner replaced due to having young children in the house but I'll believe it when it happens.
